In addition, if you buy a high-efficiency unit, you could receive a tax credit equal to 10% of the price of the unit, or up to $500 from the IRS. Please note, not all ENERGY STAR certified products qualify for a tax credit. ENERGY STAR distinguishes energy efficient products which, although they may cost more to purchase than standard models, will pay you back in lower energy bills within a reasonable amount of time, without a tax credit. Consult with your accountant for the proper tax form to receive credit.
